About the doctors

Howard R. Belkin, M.D., D.D.S., J.D.

Dr. Belkin is a psychiatrist and specializes in psychotherapy and  medication treatment for adults, adolescents, and children, marital  counseling, and family counseling and therapy.  He  accepts patients on  a case-by-case basis.  On the initial telephone call, Dr. Belkin will  discuss your needs with you.  If he feels that you can benefit from the  type of treatment that he offers, he will schedule a visit for a new  patient examination.  At the end of that visit, he will discuss with you  the type of treatment that he feels would be the best for your  individual situation.  In general, this treatment focuses on  psychotherapy.  Although Dr. Belkin does not accept patients  requiring strictly medication management, he will prescribe certain  types of medications as adjuncts to psychotherapy when he feels they  are needed.  The frequency and length of visits will be discussed at  the initial visit.  


Dr. Belkin strives to offer the highest quality of care possible.  He  received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University  School of Medicine and did his training in General Psychiatry and Child  and Adolescent Psychiatry there.  He is board certified by the  American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a Diplomate  of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. .  Dr. Belkin is  also licensed by the State of Michigan as an attorney and a dentist,  although his professional practice is limited exclusively to psychiatry.


Dr. Howard Belkin is an attending psychiatrist at William Beaumont  Hospital in Troy, Michigan and is available for the consultation and  treatment of patients at that hospital.   He is also an Assistant  Professor of Psychiatry at the Oakland University William Beaumont  School of Medicine in Rochester, Michigan.  

Barbara Herzig Belkin, M.D.

Dr. Barbara Herzig is an attending psychiatrist at William Beaumont  Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan  and is available for  consultation  on  patients at that hospital.  She is also an Assistant Professor of  Psychiatry at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of  Medicine in Rochester, Michigan.    


Dr. Herzig strives to offer the highest quality of care possible.  She  received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University  School of Medicine and did her training in General Psychiatry there.   She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and  Neurology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of  Psychiatry and Neurology.  


Dr. Barbara Herzig is not currently accepting patients for treatment  in the office and will not be available to accept or return phone  calls regarding patients seeking treatment at the office. Her practice  is limited to patients hospitalized at William Beaumont Hospital.  Phone  calls regarding consultations, current or potential patients at  Beaumont Hospital will be returned.
